We enjoyed the festival of Awa-Odori (阿波踊り) in our little town Hatsudai (初台) near Shinjuku in Tokyo. Awa-Odori it’s a popular traditional summer dance all around Japan and come from the prefecture of Awa. People sing and dance as a parade on street. This week in Hatsudai, we see some group contest for dance of Awa and we took some pictures that you can see bellow. We was impress when we see all the public follow the rhythm and dance “Awa-Odori”, anyway everyone is invited as the song say : “Odoru ahou ni,  Miru ahou, Onaji ahou nara, Odorana son, son” : “The dancers are fools, The watchers are fools, Both are fools alike so, Why not dance?” We buy the t-shirt of the festival that they sell for charity project. Koinobori

One of our favorite day in Japan is the National Children’s Day. Why ? Cause you can see a lot of Konobori riding the wind ! What ?

Koinobori (こいのぼり), meaning “carp streamer” in Japanese, are carp-shaped wind socks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no Sekku, a traditional event which is now designated a Children’s Day. These wind socks are made by drawing carp patterns on paper, cloth or other nonwoven fabric. They are then allowed to flutter in the wind.

Life goes in Tokyo

After this great catastrophe that befell Japan, life is returning here. We could almost say that in Tokyo and the rest of the country, it has not arrested. While many of the foreigners have fled abroad for various reasons, Japanese people have to realize most keep their composure and continued to work almost as usual. We also did the same, continuing the work while being attentive to clients, families and friends. In Tokyo, even if the nuclear danger remains, life resumed as before. At this weekend shibuya streets, cafes and restaurants were full. Only lights of shops and giants screens are turned off, who makes the streets a bit dark. Despite the tragedy that occurred north of the country, we enjoy the general optimism that reigns in the capital. Always hoping for better days in this pink Japanese spring.
