Hatsudai Awa-Odori

We enjoyed the festival of Awa-Odori (阿波踊り) in our little town Hatsudai (初台) near Shinjuku in Tokyo. Awa-Odori it’s a popular traditional summer dance all around Japan and come from the prefecture of Awa. People sing and dance as a parade on street. This week in Hatsudai, we see some group contest for dance of Awa and we took some pictures that you can see bellow. We was impress when we see all the public follow the rhythm and dance “Awa-Odori”, anyway everyone is invited as the song say : “Odoru ahou ni,  Miru ahou, Onaji ahou nara, Odorana son, son” : “The dancers are fools, The watchers are fools, Both are fools alike so, Why not dance?” We buy the t-shirt of the festival that they sell for charity project.
